Is your service for SQL server running? Use SQL Server logs to work out what port it’s miccrosoft on, or see if it is failing because the port is in use.
Thank you for your advise. I have two sql micrsoft installed in same server. I suspect this is something along the lines of the driver being corrupt, perhaps a reinstal of MDAC might assist, but for the time being I’m happy that it is working at all! Right on this server itself, I’ve got an ODBC connection set up pointing at itself, and that already works perfectly.
